Okay, I'm an Army Brat so now we have one. **grin**

We were five kids of Daddy Lifer, who retired in '66. Four of us were born in Panama, one in Germany. We did two tours in Germany totaling five years. The rest of the time was spent in the SE US - we never did a tour in the orient, a shame. I would have liked that.

Regensburg, Ft. Stewart, Augsburg, Ft. McClellan are the ones I remember. I was a mere 13 years old when Daddy Lifer retired.

My youngest sister then married into the AF and went to Ramstein. From her descriptions and photos, I think Germany had changed drastically from when we were stationed there.

My fondest memory is of the German butcher shop where the man would give us what he called "kids sausage" to shut us up so mom would spend more. **grin** I've tried unsuccessfully to find that stuff and recently learned it might be what's really known as veal bologna. I'm not giving up!

Okay, enough of memory lane. Nice to meet ya'll!

My dad went to OTS when I was five and we moved from the beautiful warm south to the frozen tundra known as Ellsworth AFB, South Dakota. We were at Ramstein for 6 years. Lived offbase in a town called Steinwenden the whole 6 years. It's weird to find people who know where Trier is! Anyway, we then went to Eielson AFB in Alaska, and I graduated high school in Hawaii while stationed at Hickam. I'm now back in California going to college. I'm going back to see my Mom and Step-dad in a couple weeks. My step-dad got back from Iraq (he was on ghost patrol even though he's a war planner) a couple months ago and my brother-in-law gets back from Korea in 5 days. He and my sister are both active duty Air Force. They just came from Eglin in January and are now at Travis. My sister and I drove all the way from Eglin to San Francisco in 3 days. Her husband as been on a remote for almost a year now, so I did the drive with her. Anyway, that's the military low down. I hate living off base now though. Almost a year and I'm still not used to it.

Hello,

My father was in Army before I was born and he retired with 30 years of service. Here's the quick rundown of our stations:

Born in Frankurt am Main, Germany
lived in a bunch of places
landed in Sacramento, CA
Göppingen, Germany
Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas
Back to Frankfurt, Germany for High School

Aside from a 6 month stay in Paris, I've been in Northern California since. I remember terrorism growing up but loved living in Germany, experienced culture shock upon returning to the US.
