What, no Army Brats?

Not fair, you all! Of course, fair is a place where fat pigs win blue ribbons, huh.

Okay, I'm an Army Brat so now we have one. **grin**

We were five kids of Daddy Lifer, who retired in '66. Four of us were born in Panama, one in Germany. We did two tours in Germany totaling five years. The rest of the time was spent in the SE US - we never did a tour in the orient, a shame. I would have liked that.

Regensburg, Ft. Stewart, Augsburg, Ft. McClellan are the ones I remember. I was a mere 13 years old when Daddy Lifer retired.

My youngest sister then married into the AF and went to Ramstein. From her descriptions and photos, I think Germany had changed drastically from when we were stationed there.

My fondest memory is of the German butcher shop where the man would give us what he called "kids sausage" to shut us up so mom would spend more. **grin** I've tried unsuccessfully to find that stuff and recently learned it might be what's really known as veal bologna. I'm not giving up!

Okay, enough of memory lane. Nice to meet ya'll!

Did you happen to play against us at our homecoming game? While I was there, Patch had a tradition of only winning one game a year - homecoming. And that one it didn't matter who played. We beat Mannheim when they later went on to become the European champions one year. But I didn't play football. I ran cross country and track. I had a friend on Nurnberg's cross country team, their top runner, but I can't remember his name right now.

Yes, we did play homecoming that year...that was the big joke..we lost to Patch! If you friend went to NAHS I probably knew him...we weren't a very big school...when I graduated in '92, there were only 72 people in my graduating class...my best friend was class of '91, so I knew a lot of seniors when I was a junior...

Army Brat here. We were stationed in West Berlin and Holland (AFCENT). Parents continued several more tours even though the kids were out of the house: Frankfurt, Landstuhl (near Ramstein AFB), and Carlisle, PA.

I did get a chance to attend University of Maryland's Munich Campus on McGraw Kaserne. Sadly, those days are past and UofMD no longer has a European residential campus.

Any other Munich Campus alumni out there?
