Dad spent 2 years Army (in WWII) and then 26 in the Air Force. Was born at Ft. Benning, GA (not my fault, I showed up 3 months early, what better place to do it than Ft. Benning? It IS Jump School after all! grin) Lived in Guam, Germany (twice) Calif. Nebraksa (twice), Kentucky, Texas, and now in Kansas. I have a son in the Navy currently on deployment, and the youngest son is leaning toward following the family footsteps and going in the military.
It is so nice to find this tribe, and I look forward to meeting and sharing stories with all of you.

Re: Another Air Force Brat on board
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 10:50 AMThanks! Your dad was a Sgt. Major huh? And I thought MY dad at a E-7 could be a wooger! (giggle)
I bet your dad is very proud of you though. And my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to BOTH you and your father for serving.
What part of Germany were y'all stationed in? I was in Darmstdat the first time and Trier the second (actually Spanghdalm AFB but hey it's CLOSE to Trier!)
I know it may sound silly, but it's Sooooo nice to finally be able to chat with other brats, being surounded by mostly civilians can get just a bit. . . weird??
Anyway, thanks for the welcome! -

Re: Another Air Force Brat on board
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 5:02 PMMy dad was stationed at a little post called Hohenfels, not too far from Regensburg...I went two hours away to High School at Nurnberg American High...we lived on 'the economy' in a little flat in a tiny town called Beratzhausen, then in another tiny town called Laaber that had bitchen castle ruins in town...
I know what you mean about civilians who feel sorry for us "poor brats..." Yeah...I went to high school in Germany and spent a good portion of my childhood in Hawaii...pathetic...;D
I loved it...I love moving around, and still get itchy feet...But you know what they say...the more you travel, the more you want to see... -

Re: Another Air Force Brat on board
Thu, April 21, 2005 - 5:42 PMI have pictures of a fly by three day trip to Alt Nuremberg when I was in Germany the second time. Lived in a bueatiful *tiny* village called Oberkail for almost 2 years, which is the closest village to Spanghdalm base and town proper. Only attended a DOD school when I was there the first time for first grade. Spent many a weekend driving up and down the Mozel or hanging out near Bitburg. I too still get the 'itch to travel', have a standard joke that the 'garge is full! Time to move!!". And I wouldn't change a minute of any of it!
